Young Ideas is a multi-award-winning Midlands-based independent designer boutique, that has been dressing Derbyshire since 1968 and this year the business celebrates
15 years under the ownership of Anne Wright.
It all began in 2008, after Anne, a successful businesswoman within the food industry who had an interest in fashion and what clothes can do for you, read an article about Young Ideas in
Derbyshire Life. A dream was born, and Anne contacted the then-owner Dorothy about her plans for the business. It turned out that Dorothy was planning to retire
and together they hatched a plan where Anne purchased Young Ideas.
The business has changed significantly during the last 15 years. Growing from one store to four, moving location and in the process revitalising an old and neglected Ashbourne gem – The Green Man Hotel now home to the Young Ideas flagship store. With boutiques in the Cathedral Cities of Lichfield and Derby, Young Ideas also has an outlet in Ashbourne and a successful online store. Sister company Henmores, a premium country lifestyle business, also has its flagship store in Ashbourne (rather poetically this is on the site of the original Young Ideas store).
Although much has changed, the core principles that attracted Anne to Young Ideas remain – an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong sense of place, coupled with a drive to support the local community and of course an exclusive collection of premium designer clothing in a setting that brings a little slice of London to a thriving market town in Derbyshire.
Young Ideas exclusively stock the best pieces from the world’s leading designers including Boss, Bella Freud, Boutique Moschino, Coach, Diane Von Furstenberg, Hayley Menzies, Michael Kors, Paul Smith, and Weekend Max Mara. The business is built on the principles of a friendly team who specialise in providing exceptional customer service alongside expert styling advice that is tailored to individual need.
Anne said “The last 15 years have flown by, and I am incredibly proud of how Young Ideas has grown and evolved. I love running a business that is at the heart of the community with a team that is known for providing excellent customer service. This is our Everyday and I look forward to what the next 15 years brings!”
To celebrate the anniversary we hosted a special event at our flagship store in Ashbourne entitled Young Ideas – 15 Years, The Wright Way. The event, on the 11th of May, was attended by VIP customers, partners, local stakeholders and family and friends and was a wonderful celebration and an opportunity to showcase what they do best.
