Young Ideas is an exciting and dynamic business which has been established for more than 50 years and since new ownership in 2008 the business has thrived, opening two additional stores and more recently a transactional website putting us in a great position for future growth.

Apprenticeships and Kickstart Scheme:

We have a number of Apprenticeship opportunities within Customer Service, Finance and Digital Marketing.

 

Whether you are just starting your career or have been inspired to start a new journey, we are always keen to hear from individuals wanting to benefit from working with an award-winning team whilst gaining a formal qualification. 

Additionally, we are also supporting a number of earned work placements, lasting 6 months, via the Government Kickstart scheme, which is specifically designed for those aged between 16 and 24. It is run by the DWP, so your local Job Centre will be able to run you through the specific criteria, and help you find out whether or not you’re eligible. 

For both schemes, we are looking for talented and motivated people who would thrive in a fast-paced working environment to join our growing team. Being passionate about learning more about multi-channel premium and luxury fashion retail is an absolute must.

Management Accountant:

JOB PURPOSE

 

To deliver accurate and insightful financial business management outputs, using commercial analysis, KPI reporting and implementing system and control improvements within set timelines. To use appropriate methods of investigation to identify and resolve account administration issues by providing financial information to aid managerial planning. You will play a pivotal role in optimising business profitability and the growth of the Young Ideas Group. 

 

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsibilities will include but will not be restricted to:

 

·        Prepare the monthly management accounts, post journals for prepayments and accruals and reconcile all balance sheet nominals for multiple companies

·        Update the cashflow daily for income received, payments and invoices received.

·        Monitor the weekly cash balances, reconcile the company's bank accounts on a weekly basis to ensure accurate forecasting of the Group’s cash position

·        Post group invoices in an accurate and timely manner

·        Ensure all payments have a corresponding invoice to maximise the recovery of VAT where applicable

·        Reconcile supplier accounts to ensure balances are correct and old items are dealt with accordingly

·        Collate timesheets and prepare monthly payroll

·        Collate the weekly and monthly payment runs

·        Assist with financial statements, tax returns and VAT returns

·        Assist with the control and forecast of income and expenditure

·        Provide support during the annual budgeting process

·        Assist with the management and development of the Finance team

The Role:

 

We are looking for motivated, passionate and exceptional people who thrive in a fast-paced working environment to join our leadership teams within our retail stores, this is a rare and invaluable opportunity to work within a premium and luxury fashion retailer in the Midlands.

 

The Person:

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in working in a retail environment at management level, a strong clientele background with strong leadership and motivational skills.

 

We are looking for individuals who:

 

·       Have a high level of personal energy to drive projects to completion.

·       Is confident and assertive.

·       Is positive and enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude.

·       Has a passion for fashion retail.

·       Has a professional manner.

·       Is trend aware, fashion conscious and always well presented.

 

Skills & Knowledge:

 

·       A strong clientele background, with a solid database of personal contacts and clients.

·       An exceptional people manager, with strong leadership and motivational skills.

·       Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.

·       Excellent analytical skills, and the ability to interpret financial and sales data.

·       A high level of brand awareness and product knowledge.

·       An awareness of the local area.

·       Previous retail experience within the premium sector is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have experience in working in a retail environment. The role requires the ability to be ‘hands on’ and thrive in a fast-paced environment, whilst showing a great deal of enthusiasm and passion for customer and luxury goods.
